Susan ison
After Sue retired, she attended Sunningwell School of Art in Oxfordshire for weekly watercolour lessons for a number of years. There she met several artists who became good friends together; they set up a weekly art group in her village of Kingston Bagpuize where she now continues to work in both watercolour and sheet pewter. She was introduced to the craft of working with pewter while living abroad and found it a fascinating way of combining her artistic skills with design. In particular, she enjoys interpreting her work into the art nouveau style which is an ornamental style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910 throughout Europe and the United States. Art Nouveau is characterized by its use of a long, sinuous, organic line and was employed most often in architecture, interior design, jewellery and glass design, posters, and illustration.
